firm for a day off to celebrate a Wiccan holiday, he said she should keep her religion to
herself. She adds that another manager called her a devil worshipper, in front of other
employees.
After five years on the Internet, Witch School is scheduled to open a bricks-and-mortar
establishment in July in Hoopeston, IL, about 100 miles south of Chicago, dedicated to
educating the public about neo-pagan religion. Representatives say 30–50 new students
register daily and that an estimated 120,000 are now taking courses in what CEO Ed
Hubbard calls the ―cyberministry.‖ The town mobilized against the proposed move to
Hooperston when it was announced in 2003, but today, residents, including a local Baptist
minister, seem to tolerate the Witch School.
Yoga College of India
Bikram Choudhuri, who has built his ―hot‖ yoga method into a world-wide, multi-million
dollar operation called the Yoga College of India, has been serve with 10 criminal safety
violations by the Los Angeles City Attorney. The guru has ignored repeated notices that his
warehouse studio doesn‘t have enough fire exits for the number of students attending.
Choudhuri, who pioneered the franchising of yoga studios, has upset traditionalists with his
business tactics and brash behavior.
