died. There were so many gathered at Kilimba‘s healing center, a ―Holy Rock‖ where he
talks to God, said police, that ―We could not wait for another Kanungu to happen, so we
moved in and arrested him, and he is about to face the law.‖ (Herbert Ssempogo [sic], New

Unification Church
Peace Federation to Sierra Leone
The Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP), founded by the
Rev. Sun Myung Moon [leader of the Unification Church], has established a chapter in
Sierra Leone. The Rev. Adama Doumbia, an IIFWP official from the Ivory Coast, says that
Sierra Leone will benefit from the organization‘s programs, which include youth activities,
conferences, sports, pilgrimages to holy places, and community development. (Saidu
Kamara, Standard Times, Freetown, Internet, 3/22/05)
U. of Bridgeport Reaccredited
The University of Bridgeport, which the Unification Church purchased more than a decade
ago, has been reaccredited for five years by the Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher
Education. Board member William Bevaqua said he was glad the University no longer
depended on the Professor‘s World Peace Academy, a church-connected organization
through which it financed the university. ―There were some suggestions,‖ Bevaqua said,
―that there would be an attempt to influence curriculum and student mindset at the time.
That obviously never materialized.‖ He also noted that the university is gaining support from
the Bridgeport community. University president Neil Salonen says enrollment is up and the
institution is operating in the black, thanks in part to donations from alumni. (Linda Conner

United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors
Final Sentencing
Istiyr Cole, the last member of the United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors sentenced in the
wake of the child molestation and racketeering scandal that sent leader Malachi York to
jail for 135 years, has been sentenced to 12 months probation for having sex with York in
front of a child. (Tim Shurrock, Macon Telegraph, Internet, 3/16/05)
Members Refuse to Recognize Court’s Authority
United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors members Alvester Jones and Reginald Jones,
recently convicted in Macomb (GA) District Court of illegal possession of a Taser shocking
device, claimed during their trial that the court had no jurisdiction over them, basing the
assertion on the group‘s religious tenets. The two were arrested carrying home-made
driver‘s licenses and operating a car with facsimile diplomatic plates. (Chad Holcom,
Macomb Daily, Internet, 5/7/05)
Demolition of Settlement Begins
Demolition of structures has begun at the United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors’
compound in Putnam County, GA, seized last year by the U.S. government following the
conviction of leader Dwight Malachi York on charges of racketeering and child
molestation. A local developer bought the pasture/woodland for $1.1 million. (Bill Torpy,
