The International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA), together
with Info-Secte/Info-Cult of Montreal, is conducting
its 2016 Annual International Conference in Dallas, Texas. The
conference will take place from Thursday, June 30, through
Sunday, July 2, 2016 (preconference workshops on Wednesday,
June 29).
Attendees and speakers at ICSA conferences include
academicians, researchers, helping professionals, former and
current group members, families, clergy, educators, and others.
The theme of the conference is Recovery From Cults and
High-Control Groups. However, the conference will include
presentations, panels, and workshops on all aspects of the cult
phenomenon, including
• Victims’ perspectives
• Psychological and social manipulation
• Religious fanaticism
• Terrorism
• Law enforcement
• Treatment and prevention
• Legal, social, and public-policy aspects of
manipulation and victimization
Preconference and conference workshops will be available for
former members, educators, helping professionals, families,
and other special groups.
The conference hotel is the Magnolia Dallas Park Cities,
which is near Southern Methodist University and adjacent to
Mockingbird Dart Rail station.
Because ICSA is firmly committed to freedom of thought,
expression, and religion, its conferences are open to people
from diverse backgrounds with diverse points of view.
Opinions expressed are those of the speakers and do not
necessarily reflect the views of ICSA’s directors, staff, or
supporters. Former group members dealing with recovery
issues should keep these points in mind and, when available,
attend a preconference former-member workshop, which will
help them understand the challenges of an open conference.
