moments is central to the therapeutic process.
It also is crucial for the therapist to utilize the
corrective of doubt against the comfort of
certainty. The therapist’s message in the face of
a client’s desire for certainty is that certainty is a
trap that “sweeps objections aside and makes
anything permissible if pursued with an appeal
to a higher justification” (Cullen, 2012).
