SOS Abusi Psicologici since 2011, and is
eager to accept this new responsibility.
Following the election of the new
president, SOS Abusi Psicologici
also has started two new help desks
in Veneto—specifically, in Rovigo
and Legnago (Verona), under the
supervision of Dr. Ballaben and Dr.
De Tomi. The two help desks have
begun with activities in the field of
bullying at school and at work, and
the association has already signed an
agreement with some high schools
in Veneto for individual and group
counseling to high school students. Dr.
Caparesi also will add her expertise in
group psychological abuse and family
mediation at these new centers.
On July 3, SOS Abusi Psicologici,
in cooperation with the Province
of Udine and EXIT scs onlus, held a
conference in Udine entitled Extremist
Mindset and Cultic Logic: The Role of
Civil Society in Preventing and Tackling
Violent Extremism. Participation was
good, with representatives from the
Italian Parliament, the Ministries of
Interior and Justice, and the general
public. More details are available at

During the month of March, Dr.
Caparesi presented the data from
a survey among 30 Italian former
members of cultic groups. The survey,
conducted under the supervision
of Dr. Carmen Almendros and
Luis Sanchez Garcia, both of the
Department of Health Psychology of
the Autonomous University of Madrid,
and in cooperation with SOS Abusi
Psicologici, is yielding interesting
statistical results. The final objective
of the survey, which is still open, is to
validate the psychometric measures
of the Group Psychological Abuse
(GPA) Scale in the Italian population.
The survey has been published online
at http://it.surveymonkey.com/r/
italianresearch, and information
has been given to all the Italian
associations and experts who have
contact with former members. More
contacts will be made in the near
future.
